Guidelines for Exhibitors and Project Presenters

 

  1. Projects for Exhibit and Show and Tell are screened prior to the event. Only selected projects will be given a slot for Project Showcase sessions. However, there will be a freetalk and open session to give a chance to those who also want to share their projects or learnings.
  2. Each exhibitor for Project Showcase sessions are given 15-30 minutes to present his/her project. You can opt to create a powerpoint/pdf/etc presentation for this.

The project showcase must contain the following:

    1. Short background about the presenter and the project  (required)
      • How did you come up with the project and for what purpose? (e.g. thesis, contest, school or work requirement, personal use /hobby)
    2. How did you make your project? (required)
      • A brief rundown of the materials used and the procedures involved in making the project, no need to be specific.
      • What Arduino or Arduino compatible hardware did you use? etc.
    3. Your learnings and difficulties encountered and anything else you wish to share with the community. Any tips you can give to those who plan to make a similar Arduino project. (optional)
    4. Pictures, video or actual demo of the project (required)

3. Each Project Showcase session (1-3 projects per session) is followed by a short discussion and Q&A

    • If you wish to ask for inputs/advice from the community on how to improve your project, you can do so as long as time allows for it.

4. Due to the limited space on the venue, projects that will be brought for live demo/showcase should be limited to the following dimensions:__________. If your project exceeds that, we suggest that you show pictures/videos  as demo instead.

5. There will be a designated area for project exhibits where participants can view your projects on display. Please make sure to have someone manning your booth or temporarily stow it to prevent loss/damage when you’re not around. The projects you bring are your own responsibility, the organizers will not be held liable for any loss or damage during the event.

I. Entrance and Registration

IMPORTANT: Please note that participants are required to confirm your slot by getting eventbrite tickets on or before March 25.

On March 28, please bring a proof of identification AND a copy of the eventbrite ticket or confirmation email. It can be a print out, or a digital copy on your phone/device. Make sure that the name on the ticket is the same as on your ID. Ticket will also serve as a stub for snacks, raffle, etc.

  • Everyone who registered via http://wp.me/p3LnBI-9S are now welcome to attend (even without the tickets) just no guaranteed food stubs.
  • Walk-ins may not be allowed to enter due to the limited capacity of the event area or be charged a Php100.00 walk-in fee, so make sure to register prior to the event to get FREE entrance.
  • Registration starts at 10:00 am, followed by a short welcome and briefing. Participants are requested to come on time. If you only want to attend specific talks/activities, you can do so.

III. During the event

  1. The goal of the event is to bring the Philippine Arduino community together to learn and share experience about Arduino while having a fun celebration of Arduino’s birthday. We would like this event to be interactive as possible so feel free to ask questions and/or share your knowledge, opinions and personal experience regarding the topic. Let us learn from each other! It does not matter if you are a newbie or a pro, there’s always something new to discover as well as ideas to contribute. 🙂
  2. Only selected projects will be given a slot for Project Showcase sessions. You are still welcome to bring your Arduino projects, just let us know beforehand. There will be a freetalk and open session to give a chance to those who also want to share their projects or learnings about Arduino.
  3. All participants are expected to conduct themselves in a professional and courteous manner towards the community and their fellow participants during the event.
  4. Participants are responsible for the safety of their belongings & Arduino projects, the organizers will not be held liable for any loss or damage during the event.

IV. Please note the following are STRICTLY PROHIBITED:

  1. Unauthorized selling of any product or service inside the event venue. Only sponsors, official Arduino distributors, and sellers of Arduino compatible devices that have been authorized by the organizers are allowed to have a booth to sell Arduino related products/service. If you would like to be a sponsor please let us know.
  2. Networking activities that are not related to Arduino Day.
  3. Any activity that disrupts the flow of the program or cause inconvenience to the organizers/other participants. Any activity that cause damage to equipment, property, and/or project exhibits within the event premises.

1. How do I know if I have a slot for Arduino Day Manila?
Everyone who registered via http://wp.me/p3LnBI-9S are welcome to attend. You should receive an email invitation from ThinkLab which  contains a link to a eventbrite page where you can get free online tickets for the event.  Tickets are limited and will serve as a stub for snacks, raffle, etc. If ticket ran out and you don’t get one, you can still attend, just no guaranteed seat or food stubs.
On March 28, please bring a proof of identification and a copy of the eventbrite ticket or confirmation email. It can be a print out, or a digital copy on your phone/device. Make sure that the name and email that appears on the ticket is the same as your ID. This will serve as a stub for snacks, raffle, etc. Please note that it is strictly one person per ticket. Only invited participants can get a ticket for the event.
2. Is the event for free?
The event is 100% free for those who signed up and have tickets. If you don’t have tickets but registered we’ll also let you in for free.
If you are not on the guestlist (no tickets and not registered) you are considered a walk-in participant.
3. I already signed up on WordPress but I did not receive an invitation via email. Can I still attend?
Yes! However we cannot guarantee you a seat or stub for snacks. We would like to welcome everyone as much as possible however the venue can only hold a certain number of people. As long as you signed up via the WordPress form you are eligible to attend. If you have further clarifications regarding this, kindly contact us to confirm regarding attendance slots.
4. I received an invitation from Thinklab but something came up and I’m not sure if I can attend / I can no longer attend. What should I do?
Please only get a ticket if you are already sure that you will attend. If you’re still unsure, kindly let us know and we will reserve your slot until March 26. If you do not confirm by then, we will give a chance to others who wish to attend.
If you no longer want to attend, unclaimed tickets will be given to others. If you were able to get a ticket but you can’t make it, please still notify us asap so others can go instead.
5. Are walk-ins allowed on Arduino Day?
If there’s an available space inside the venue and you are willing to pay the Php100.00 walk-in fee then why not?, otherwise no, sorry 😦 If you are not on the guestlist (no tickets and not registered), you are considered as a walk-in participant.
6. Are there ID requirements to enter the event?
Yes, you are required to present an ID at the building lobby and for registration purposes.
7. What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
Event venue is walking distance from MRT Ayala Ave. Station. There are also various public transport (bus, fx, etc.) available along Ayala Ave and Makati Ave.

Pay Parking is available on the building. There are also various pay parking space available nearby such as Glorietta, The Link, Greenbelt, etc.
8. What can/can’t I bring to the event?
You are welcome to bring your Arduino projects, just let us know beforehand. There will be a freetalk and open session to give a chance to those who also want to share their projects or learnings about Arduino.

Join us in an Arduino Day 2015 community event in Manila this March 28 as part of a worldwide celebration of Arduino’s birthday! Everyone is invited: newbies, professionals, teachers, students, hobbyists, makers, etc. Feel free to join and participate.

Cool! How Can I be part of it?

We are temporarily closing the registration for participants while we manage our guest list since we are way over the venue capacity again. Thank you for understanding. 

Please note that the event is for free but slots are limited and RSVP is required.  We have sent ticket invites to those who have registered before March 23, please check your email for details. On March 28, please bring a proof of identification AND a copy of the eventbrite ticket or confirmation email. It can be a print out, or a digital copy on your phone/device. Make sure that the name on the ticket is the same as on your ID. Ticket will also serve as a stub for snacks, raffle, etc.

Everyone who submitted the form below before March 25 , 11:00AM are welcome to attend (even without the tickets) just no guaranteed seats and food stubs.

***UPDATE!***

Thanks everyone for your overwhelming support! We’re successful in bringing this event to a bigger venue to accommodate everyone as a sign of gratitude to all of you awesome Arduino enthusiasts! In just less than 24-hours, we have reached the initial target number of Participants for #Arduino Day 2015 Manila! We now have over two hundred registered participants for this Saturday which is 8 times the original number we expected.

 For those without tickets, reminder that though you are welcome to attend, we cannot guarantee your seats / food stubs. We suggest that you come on time for the seats and we might be handing out additional food stubs to early birds as well.
